This is the first book in a series of Japanese language texts for junior high school students connected with foreign countries receiving Japanese language study support at their junior high schools.

This series has been created with the goal of the student being able to attend classes in each school subject in a short period of time. In addition, with the aim of cultivating the ability of students to think on their own and to be able to proactively tackle learning, serious consideration has been given to the students being able to think and understand things for themselves.

This book is an introductory material so that the student can learn the basics of Japanese efficiently. For this reason, the study items are presented in a systematic manner, and are narrowed down to the minimum amount necessary. As the book is the story of set characters at a junior high school, the student can enjoy the story while learning about Japanese culture and customs. As the book has been designed so that the student can progress by him/herself, it can be safely used by teachers and teaching assistants with no experience of teaching Japanese to foreign-born students.

In the supplementary teaching/study materials section below, we have prepared such aids as verb usage practice sheets and word memorization check sheets, so please use these with the textbook.
