About user registration and logging in
- Q: What can I do by registering as a user?
- A: You can access the website’s My Page. If you are a registered My Page user, you will receive preferential treatment in terms of being able to access the latest edition of Ja-Net, registering the teaching/study materials you are using and/or like, and obtaining information on supplementary teaching/study materials and seminars.
- Q: I have forgotten my password.
- A: On the “Login” page, click on the “If you forgot your password, please click here” button to move to the “Forgot your password?” page. Enter your e-mail address and click “Send e-mail” to receive a new password via e-mail. Please log in using the new password.
- Q: I want to change my e-mail address.
- Please change at User Information Change.
- Q: When I try to register or change my e-mail address, a “This e-mail address has already been registered” message appears.
- A: It is not possible to register the same e-mail address for multiple users on our website. An already registered e-mail address cannot be used to change or make a new registration. Also, multiple IDs cannot be combined. To make a change or register using an already registered e-mail address, you must first unregister that e-mail address.
- Q: I want to cancel my user registration.
- After logging in, you can cancel your user registration from here.
About our books and products
- Q: Where can I buy 3A products?
- A: With the exception of Minna no Nihongo Goiyaku (Minna no Nihongo Vocabulary Translations) and digital content, we do not sell our products directly to customers. Please find a bookstore near you from the list of bookstores dealing with Japanese teaching/study materials. Please note that it is also possible to back order our products from bookstores that do not have them in stock. Please order directly at bookstores.
- Q: I plan to buy a lot of books, so can I get a discount?
- A: We do not deal with orders directly. Please discuss this matter with your nearest bookstore or a Japanese-language specialist bookstore.
- Q: The accompanying CD won’t play on my CD player.
Step ①
It might not be an audio CD. Check to see if DIGITAL AUDIO is written under the COMPACT disc logo on the actual CD. If it isn’t, it won’t play on CD player. In this case, it is a CD-ROM, which stores data like PDF files and/or MP3 audio files, and needs to be accessed via a computer. Please use it with a computer.Step ②
If the accompanying CD does have DIGITAL AUDIO written on it but it won’t play, clean the surface of the CD and try again. If it still won’t work, try it on another player. If you don’t have another player, try another CD on the player you are trying to use.If you have tried Step ①、Step ②above, and the CD still won’t play, it is possible that the CD is defective. In this case, to replace the CD, please contact us here.

- Q: There are pages missing or out of order. Can I exchange or return the book?
- We will exchange the book. Please contact us here. We will pay for the shipping costs. However, please note that we will not exchange books bought at secondhand bookstores, bought privately from another individual, or acquired as a gift. We would appreciate your understanding of this matter.
Teaching Japanese
- Q: I am going to teach Japanese to foreigners. What do I need?
- What you will to teach will depend on the current Japanese level of the learner(s). Please refer to our Japanese Teaching/Study Material Chart.
- Q: What is Minna no Nihongo? What is the best way to use it?
- A: Minna no Nihongo is a series of teaching materials for foreigners learning Japanese. It is widely used both in Japan and overseas. For those learning Japanese for the first time, they start with Elementary I, and then continue with Elementary II, then Intermediate I and Intermediate II.
The Main Text is written entirely in Japanese (though Elementary I does have a Romanized edition). The learner studies using two books as a set: the Main Text and the Translation and Grammar Notes. The learner studies speaking, listening, reading and writing with the Main Text and confirms the meaning with the Translation and Grammar Notes.
Elementary I Translation and Grammar Notes is available in 13 languages, Elementary II in 12 languages, and Intermediate I and II in 8 languages. Please select the native language of the student. For more details, click here.
- Q: I will soon finish the textbook I have been using. I want to find a textbook for the next level.
- This will depend on the current level of Japanese language study and what you want to study. Please refer to our Japanese Teaching/Study Material Chart.
About supplementary teaching/study materials (digital content)
- Q: What are supplementary teaching/study materials?
- A: They are materials intended to make teaching easier. You can download, print and use practice sheets and tests, and also access audio and video content.
- Q: Please tell me how to use them?
- A: Move from the page of your current teaching/study materials to the supplementary teaching/study materials page. While most do not require registration and are free of charge, some do require registration and a user fee.
- Q: I want to use the audio and video content on multiple PCs and devices. Is that possible?
- A: Provided you log in with a registered user’s ID, you can use the content on other PCs and devices.
- Q: How do I buy content?
- A: To buy content you need to be a registered user. To begin with, register your name and e-mail address. After that, log in, and you will be able to press the purchase button.
- Q: What payment methods do you use?
- A: Payment can be made by credit card (VISA, Master, JCB, American Express, Diners), carrier (docomo, au, softbank), or at a convenience store. Bank or postal transfer can also be used, but only for purchasing Minna no Nihongo Goiyaku (Minna no Nihongo Vocabulary Translations).
- Q: Is it possible to cancel an order or return a product?
- A: It is possible to return unused copies of Minna no Nihongo Goiyaku (Minna no Nihongo Vocabulary Translations). To return a product, you must contact us within five business days of its arrival. Also, the return shipping fee must be borne by the customer. Due to the nature of the service, there is no return service or refund for digital content.
- Q: Can I get a receipt?
- After purchasing the digital content and sending the purchase confirmation e-mail, we will send a receipt by return. If you would like us to issue a separate receipt, please contact us at the e-mail address below, providing the name of the person who purchased the item, the item purchased, and the name and address to which the receipt should be sent. We apologize for the inconvenience.

About our seminars
- Q: Where can I find information on seminars?
- A: Information on our seminars can be found in our quarterly newsletter, Ja-Net, on our website, and in our mail magazine.
- Q: How do I apply to participate in a seminar?
- A: There is an application button on the information page of each seminar on the website. Please provide the required information and submit the application.
- Q: I have applied to participate in a seminar, but now can’t go. Can somebody else go in my place or can I get a refund?
- A: If you are unable to attend for unavoidable reasons, it is possible for someone to take your place. If you would like someone to take your place (can only be done until one business day before the seminar), please contact us at the e-mail address below, providing us with the proxy’s name, name in kana, his/her phone number, and e-mail address.

Please note that transferring to another seminar is not permitted.
Also, please note that after payment, if the applicant cancels for personal reasons, the application fee will not be refunded. If the seminar is cancelled owing to a natural disaster like a typhoon or for reasons related to the company, the fee will be refunded.
- Q: Is it possible to wait for a cancellation after the application deadline?
- A: We are very sorry, but we do not permit waiting for cancellations.
- Q: Can I get a receipt for fee-based seminars?
- A: A receipt will be issued on the day of the seminar at the time of reception.
About our quarterly newsletter, Ja-Net
- Q: What is Ja-Net?
- A: Ja-Net is a quarterly Japanese language education newsletter published by 3A Corporation. In it are articles from experts in various fields related to Japanese language and activity reports from Japanese language institutions. It also provides information on forthcoming publications and seminars.
- Q: How do I apply to view them?
- You can access the website edition of Ja-Net and all back issues. If you wish to receive the paper edition of Ja-Net, apply here.
- Q: Is there a fee to subscribe to Ja-Net?
- A: There is no fee.
- Q: My address/name has changed. I would like to change my registered information.
- To change your registered information, please visit here.
- Q: Can you send Ja-Net to me overseas?
- A: We can send it overseas, but it will take some time to reach you. Overseas users can view the latest version of Ja-Net at the same time as domestic users by registering as a user.
- Q: Is there any difference between the website edition and paper edition of Ja-Net?
- A: There is no difference.
